Leader Huddle Tuesday Sept. 6th

Tuesday, September 6th from 5:30-7:30 pm at Prairie Lakes Church Room 210

September’s Huddle will focus on how to incorporate a variety of Spiritual Disciplines into your group.  We will share several practical tools that you can use immediately.  Also, come and learn about our newest curriculum and what other leader’s are doing. 
You don’t want to miss this!

• Middle/High School Group Leaders 
• College Small Group Leaders
• Bible Study Leaders
• The Grove Leaders
• Café Mom leaders and
• Mentor Moms
• Potential leaders

**Chili/Chicken Noodle Soup, Salad, Bread, & Cookies served at 5:30.**

Huddle starts at 6:00 p.m. and all attendees will be entered in a drawing for $30 to Hwy 63 Diner.

Be sure to grab a potential leader and bring them along.

Observe the obvious!  That's it.  Don't ignore or miss opportunities to simply discuss what's right under your nose. It goes like this...

• "I've been noticing lately that the excitement around this study isn't quite what it was when we began.  Is this study still meeting our needs?"
• "Hey, it seems lately that our consistency in attendance has been a struggle.  Is everyone doing okay?"
• "It just occurred to me today that we follow the same format every time we meet.  Has anyone else noticed that?"
• "We're about to finish this study and will need to think about what's next.  It seems to me that picking a study has been hard for us.  Any ideas why?"

Now, the above examples all deal with addressing conflict or potential "stuck" areas.  There's a flip side to Observing the Obvious that is more affirming.  It's when you simply catch people in the group doing things well.  It goes like this...

• "Hey, before we begin I just wanted thank Jim for texting me this week.  He knew I needed a little extra boost and the verse he sent me made the difference in my day.  Thanks Jim."
• "Did you all know that Nancy spent probably three hours this week on details for our cookout?  We appreciate you doing that Nancy."
• "This week I saw Bob handle a very tough situation with his kids well.  It encouraged me to be more patient with my own kids.  I appreciate your example Bob, keep up the good job!"

So, you can't go wrong Observing the Obvious whether it's opening the  door to a much needed conversation or simply affirming someone in the group.  When you Observe the Obvious you will create healthy momentum in your group.  People will also learn to talk about what matters most while affirming one another in the process.  Give it a try and see what happens! 

Second Chances

This weekend at PLC we're talking about second chances.  Jesus created a culture of second chances and so should we.  If you haven't seen this website you need to check it out.  It's full of second chance stories.  Show one or two of these stories in your group along with the sermon based curriculum.

Take your group and go see Mark Cahill

If you haven't heard, Mark Cahill is going to be at the Cedar Falls Bible Conference this weekend August 6th & 7th.  Check out the schedule here.  This is a great opportunity to take your group and learn more about sharing your faith with others.  Mark’s passion is for the entire world to know Jesus Christ! He is the author of the popular books, One Thing You Can’t Do in Heaven and One Heartbeat Away. Over the past twelve years the Lord has used Mark to equip and encourage others to boldly stand up for what they believe. The most exciting result of that, Mark says, is that “they actually go out and do it.” Mark is a graduate of Auburn University where he played basketball on the same team as Charles Barkley and was an honorable mention academic all-American his senior year.  Don't miss this chance to see Mark!
